As islanders of the Orchid Island, the Tao people interact with the ocean day and night.

At the intertidal zone (the junction of sea and land), you will be amazed the way the coach could skip vibrantly on the reef. He will explore with you the lives at the intertidal zone. You may meet shellfish, crustaceans, or some small fish. They are also the non-staple food for the Tao people. So don't feel surprised when you see a few flashlights shining over there.

Fruit

IMG_2889_edited.jpg

Ms Rice is a fruit fanatic. She used to consume half watermelon every other day in previous summers. The most frustrating thing for her first year settling down in Orchid Island is that she couldn't buy any fruit. She then suffered from infrequent bowel movements because of the lack of fruit. So, she started to think about selling fruit so that there will be always fruit left for herself.

If you can feel her, please do not hesitate to contact her and she will try her best to locate different fruits for you.

Pre-order items

Seafood

IMG_2676.JPG

"Only a fisherfolk understands the difficulties of the other fisherfolk", Mr Bear said this with a look that he has already seen through the world. He is a fisherfolk with no fishing boats or fishing nets. He only relies on his water skills, experience and simple tools to catch seafood from the ocean to the shore.

The Tao people have their own concept of sustainability and catching rules. You just order what they need (also depends on the luck if Mr Bear could catch them), cherish the food, and understand the difficult lives of fisherfolk. That's good enough.

With additional cooking fee, we could help to cook the seafood.

Eggs

IMG_3651.JPG

On the way of raising chickens, we have encountered numerous failures, and continuous to learn from experience.

It took a lot of effort until the little chicken became a big chicken, and then the big chickens started to lay egg. Not mass-produced yet, so you pre-order first while we try our best to collect eggs.

As for the chicken, they start to be clingy and willing to be touched and hugged after getting along with us for a while. Then, we started not wanting to kill them. We could only sell them in high price (really expensive), and even more for us to kill them (super expensive and not worth it). So, think carefully (haha, no one will sell chicken like this).
