From Ocean/Farm to Table + Animal Encounters
"There is a kind of blue called Orchid Island Blue" -- It is the slogan for the tourists.
"There is a kind of hunger called Orchid Island Hunger" -- This is the voice of part of the local people.
Living on an island, food supplies rely on shipping, which depends on the weather. The price will be more expensive because the shipping fee is included. Also, there are not as many restaurant options as in the urban area. Therefore, when some islanders go to the urban area, they will eat a lot.
However, the island actually has its own unique ingredients, including sweet potatoes, taro, some wild vegetables, or fresh seafood from the ocean. This could be possible only if agriculture and fishery develop in parallel with tourism.
Ms Rice comes from Hong Kong where agriculture has almost disappeared but all kind of imported supplies are very abundant. Mr Bear from Orchid Island used to say that the food there was tasteless. Therefore, we hope to take advantage of the still well preservation of agriculture and fishery in Orchid Island to provide this activities. Our mission is cooking food with "vegetables taste like vegetables, fish taste like fish, meat taste like meat, and people are humane",
The activity's content
Feeding goat/chicken
"Grandmother thinks that you are hungry"— feeding in behavior but wanting to get close is the real psychological need. Feeding animals could be a similar state of mind.
The animals that you are going to feed are goat and chicken. They have different personalities but they all like food. By feeding them, you may realise that besides being human's food, they can also be an independent living individual.
Picking vegetable
We adopt organic farming methods, i.e., we do not spray pesticides or use chemical fertilizer. We eat vegetables grown by ourselves.
Through picking vegetables, you can touch the soil, feel its texture, and its natural power to breed plants. After picking the vegetables, we could process the vegetables together. The dishes you are going to eat will become more delicious with your participation.
Chef’s tasting menu (Omakase)
Whether it is the crops in the field or the seafood in the sea, it is the gift from the God which cannot be predicted in advance. That's why this activity will be presented in the form of chef's tasting menu. Every meal is unique and brings you surprises.
Note: Due to the limitation of our farming/fishing, some ingredients are purchased.
Ingredient and culture
Through the introduction of ingredients, you can understand its characteristics and curative effect on the body.
At the same time, we will also introduce some unique food concepts of the Tao people, such as the sustainable culture of alternate hunting of flying fish and other fish, or only male can eat certain kind of fish.

Notice
1) Due to limited ingredients and space, each session can only accommodate up to 10 people. There will be a chance to lunch/dine and experience with other guests.
2) Please enroll 3 days before the event so that we could have enough time to prepare ingredients and design the menu.

4) Some experience activities will be carried out outdoors, please bring your own protection tools from sun or rain. Where the outdoors are connected to the indoors in our site, there will be mosquitoes and other insects. Mosquito repellent will be provided, but long trousers and shoes that cover the entire foot are also recommended.
5) In case there is a typhoon or heavy rain, the event may be canceled and will be notified at that time whether the event will be postponed or the deposit will be refunded.
6) We keep some animals in the site which means we will see animal feces on the ground, Please do not panic.
